September always feels like a fresh start. The kids go back to school, routines snap back into place, and there’s an energy of new pencils, clean notebooks, and a chance to do things better.
Sales is no different.
Here’s the truth: over summer, even the best of us get a little rusty. Prospecting slows down. Follow-up falls behind. Discovery calls get less intentional. We think we’ll “catch up later,” but what actually happens? We slide into Q4 unprepared, and suddenly we’re scrambling to make our numbers.
That’s the pain of skipping class.
The solution? Go back to sales school. Not by adding fancy new tricks, but by sharpening the fundamentals that always work:
Think of these as your sales syllabus. They aren’t glamorous, but they are the foundation that drives consistent results. When you return to the basics, confidence grows, rhythm returns, and momentum builds.
This month, don’t skip class. Show up. Do the reps. Sharpen your skills.
Because in sales—just like in school—the ones who succeed aren’t the ones with the fanciest tricks. They’re the ones who master the basics over and over again.
So here’s my challenge: treat September like your new semester. Step back into the classroom with focus, discipline, and excitement. Your future self in December will thank you for the work you put in today.
Class is in session—now it’s time to graduate to your best finish yet. 🎓
P.S. What’s one “fundamental” you know you need to revisit this month? Prospecting, follow-up, or discovery calls? Hit reply and tell me—I’d love to hear.
