Ever worry you’re coming across as too pushy in sales?
It’s a common fear—especially for women—because we’ve been conditioned to think that following up, reaching out, or asking for the sale might make us “too much.”
But here’s the truth: sales isn’t about charging full speed ahead.
It’s a dance.
You take a step forward.
And then you wait to see if your prospect steps forward too.
That step could be small:
📩 Sending a short email.
📞 Making a quick call.
🔗 Connecting on LinkedIn.
Then—pause.
If you hear crickets, give it a couple weeks and try a different step.
If you find yourself doing all the dancing while they just stand still, back up.
But if they respond, engage, or ask questions? That’s your signal to keep moving forward together.
I see this same rhythm in how I network. When I connect with someone and feel a spark, I send them a quick message. Not everyone writes back—and that’s okay.
The ones who do respond? I invite them for coffee. Some say yes, others pass. I’m not offended either way, because their response is simply them showing me whether they’re stepping forward or staying where they are.
And that’s what sales really is—our job isn’t to force people to do what we want.
📌📌It’s to put forth an opportunity and provide the space for them to respond in a way that feels good for them.
So this week, try the sales dance: step, wait, step, wait.
When you let the right people set the pace with you, selling stops feeling like a push—and starts feeling like a partnership.
Remember—sales is not about getting everyone to dance with you. It’s about finding the ones who share your rhythm and moving forward together. Trust the pace, trust the process, and you’ll always end up on the right dance floor.
