Let’s talk about mindset — not the fluffy, motivational-poster kind. I’m talking about the kind that actually changes how you show up in sales, business, and life.
There’s one mindset tool I keep returning to — especially on the tough days. I call it the Backpack Analogy, and it’s simple but powerful:
Every thought you have? You’re carrying it like it’s packed in a backpack.
Some of those thoughts help you climb the mountain.
Others? They weigh you down like bricks.
Here’s the game-changer:
You get to choose what stays in the bag.
I’ll be real with you.
There were seasons (okay, many seasons) when my backpack was overflowing with fear.
Thoughts like:
“I’m never going to make money.”
“All my clients secretly hate me.”
“Who am I to be doing this?”
Wild how one tiny worry can spiral into a full-blown doom-day scenario, right?
But then I started asking myself:
Is this thought serving me — or sinking me?
And that’s when things started to shift.
I began pulling the useless thoughts out of the pack.
Now, let me be clear: the doubts didn’t vanish.
They just don’t get to ride around on my back all day anymore.
Here’s the Spark:
Next time your inner Negative Nelly shows up, ask yourself:
“Is this thought worth carrying?”
“Is it helping me move forward or weighing me down?”
You don’t have to carry everything.
Just what keeps you climbing.
