Let’s talk about something far too many women in sales hear:
“You’re intimidating.”
Not because you raised your voice.
Not because you were out of line.
But simply because you owned the room.
At a recent event where I spoke on Cultivating Female Talent, a woman raised her hand and asked:
“How do you respond when a man calls you intimidating—just for being yourself?”
There was only one man in the session (wish there had been more 👀).
But get this—she turned to him and asked what he thought.
He paused. Took a deep breath. And said:
“When I was younger, I did find women in sales intimidating. But after years of counseling, I realized—it wasn’t about them. It was about me. My own insecurities.”
The whole room shifted.
From: “Is it me?”
To: “Wait… it’s not me?”
Here’s the Spark:
💥 Being called “too much” for showing up with confidence, clarity, or authority? That’s not on you. That’s someone else’s discomfort talking.
💥 You are not responsible for shrinking to fit inside someone else’s comfort zone.
💥 So next time it happens, ask yourself: “Am I really intimidating—or are they just intimidated?”
And then?
Keep going.
With power.
With heart.
With you—fully intact.
