Fall has always been one of my favorite seasons. The Midwest trees are blazing with color, the air is crisp, and yes—football season is back (go Pack! 🏈). It’s also the season where routines settle and conversations that slipped through the cracks over summer finally have space to pick back up.
Which brings me to a question that popped up in a recent Shatter Lounge mastermind: “Is it ever too late to follow up with someone?”
My answer? A wholehearted, absolutely-not-sister, NO! In fact, reaching out later than planned still shows you care, and that kind of follow-through is what builds real trust.
Because here’s the truth: most of us have prospects we fully intended to circle back with in June or July…but life got busy, vacations happened, and now it feels awkward to re-engage. That lingering thought—“I should follow up with them”—hangs over us, creating guilt and lost opportunities.
The solution? Make this a Follow-Up Fall—a season to refresh, re-engage, and rebuild momentum. And it doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are 3 simple ways to reconnect with prospects you’ve meant to follow up with:
👉 Remember: it’s never about perfect timing, it’s about keeping the door open. Prospects rarely think about the “missed” follow-up as much as we do—they’re usually glad you reached out.
So this week, scan your pipeline. Who did you mean to reconnect with over the summer? Don’t let them sit on the back burner—pick one, reach out, and restart the conversation.
Here’s to making this your strongest Follow-Up Fall yet.
P.S. Need more motivation to restart those conversations? Every follow-up you make now is a seed planted for year-end success. The conversations you begin today will be the opportunities you celebrate in December. Who’s the first person you’ll reach out to this week?
