This week, I turned 49. 🎉
My last year in this decade. (Pause for dramatic effect… yikes!)
And like any good birthday reflection, I’ve been thinking about the patterns I want to keep—and the ones I’m ready to let go of.
One theme that keeps coming up? Disappointment.
Specifically, how it shows up when I place high expectations on other people.
In my personal life, I often find myself assuming others will value, think, or show up the way I do.
And when they don’t?
I feel disappointed. Sometimes even disillusioned.
But here’s the wild part:
In sales, I never do that.
I never expect a prospect to say yes.
Not because I don’t believe in myself—quite the opposite.
I know the value I bring. I know what I offer is powerful.
But I also know I’m not for everyone.
And that’s okay—beautiful, even.
Because the people I am for? They’re the ones I end up attracting.
It’s a strange kind of freedom—to set high standards while holding low expectations.
To live in alignment with your truth while allowing others to live in alignment with theirs.
And that’s the energy I’m trying to expand—not just in sales, but in life—as I close out this fourth decade.
So if you’ve been feeling the sting of disappointment lately—
maybe from a slow “no,” a ghosted follow-up, or someone in your world not meeting the moment…
This is your reminder:
💡 You can be excellent without needing others to meet you there.
💡 You can lead with integrity and heart—and still release attachment to the outcome.
💡 You can stand in your power while letting others walk their path.
That’s not weakness. That’s wisdom.
And this birthday girl is finally starting to get it.
